Setting Photographs

I have taken some images of the settings where I want certain scenes to take place:

 I think the proposal scene/flashback will happen in this garden. I will add props like two chairs, a table cloth, candles, fairy lights and champagne to make the scene more realistic. 

 In the scene where the main character tries on her wedding dress for her friends, I think I will have her in this living, to imply that its her own, but in front of this black curtain, which will add darkness to the scene, foreshadowing the future, and her white dress with stand out and contrast with the black.  When she receives the letter about her husband, the main character will open it and react in front of this door and she will fall down and lie against the wall next to it. 

When the soldier turns of at her door, I will have her standing at this window and the camera will pan from her behind this window, to him in front of the door, ringing the door bell.

Letter Prop

I have a scene in my film where the main character is greeted at her door by a soldier who then hands her a letter to tell her that her fiancé has been killed while fighting in the army. I wanted this to be as realistic as possible so I did some research about the kind of information that is included and how it is worded. I then typed it out, put on an army logo and signed it as if a person of a high position in the army had written and signed it. I then printed an address and the Ministry of Defence logo on to the envelope. It looked like this:

Setting- Bedroom

To make the bedroom more realistic of a young couple, I added props like photographs of them on the beside table. As this is a girls bedroom, I added props like men's deodorant, aftershave, watch etc. on the shelf and clothes in the wardrobe.

Music Copyright- Asking permission for music

Even though my film will be used only for my work and won't be seen by anyone other than teachers, fellow students and the exam board, I have still contacted the record label that the song has come from, just for precaution.

This is the email that I sent:

To be clear, the email is to the licensing department of the record company: Ninja Tune. 

It reads: To whom this may concern at Ninja Tune, I am emailing you to request the permission to use a song by a band under your record label. The song is To Build a Home by the band The Cinematic Orchestra. the song will not be used for trading purposes and will by no means be used for financial gain. If given permission, I will be using this song for educational use only, as part of some college work. Thank you for your time, Megan Quill "

This just clarifies that I would like to use their music, but only for college work, to avoid any copyright issues.

Production Company

To include on my film poster, and possibly my magazine article review, I created two company logos:

One was FascinationFilm for my production company, and the other was MSF (Misfits) for my distribution company.

Here is my Fascination Film logo:

I also created a Twitter profile and Facebook group for this company.

Before I used Photoshop to begin putting together a logo, I made a rough draft. When it came to making it,  I decided that I didn't like the draft and made lots of different changes. This is the rough draft I had made before hand: 

Contacting my actors

I had to make sure that I contacted my actors again in advance so that I knew that they were available for filming.

Here, I contacted one actor to confirm he was available. 

I also contacted my main actress before every date that I wanted to film. 

None of my actors are of an age where they would be considered minors so I do not need consent from anyone other than themselves. There isn't anything I need to consider about their well fare in particular, like working late hours as both actors involved are adults and I will not be working past 8pm anyway. 

Poster Progress

As I have been working on my film poster for, Bombshell, I have been taking print screens of every major element I change or anything I add on to it. Below are the set of screen shots that I have ended up with.

I spent a long time adjusting the size of the actress on the front and changing her position within the frame. I eventually decided on this. I also decided to place the title and tagline on her wedding dress, so that it stood out on the white background, rather than the black.

At this point, I had decided to add on the names of the two main actors in my film: Gemma Graham and Antonio Townsend. I made them green to be similar to the title and to match the army/camoflauge colourscheme idea. I have played around with some different fonts and I am still not satisfied at this point with the choice in font. I will be keeping it simple but I would prefer a different font to this one I think. I have also added a quote from a newspaper called The Telegraph that reads "Stunning... A moving performance." because after having done research I had noticed that this was a common convention. At this point, the text is white, which may change, however I like it because it stands out from the black background and is visibly seperate from the rest of the green and black colourscheme.

Here you can see how I have created a set of text at the bottom, which is also a common convention of film posters. I have included things like Directed by: and Edited by: I have done this is white so that it stands out on the background. As the only thing that I haven't done on this film was the filming, it means that all of the above titles would be followed by my name. I think this would look unrealistic and unprofessional so I decided to add in some random names.

As well at the credit box at the bottom, I have included information like the twitter username of the production company: @fascinationfilm, as well as the facebook address, Facebook.com/fascinationfilm. I included a website for the film itself and then two production company logos. As I have recently made some slight changes to the logo for Fascination Film, I will be swapping the current one already on here, for the improved one.

Overall, there are still changes to be made, but this is my progress up to now.
